The Talking Forest

Project Scope

A first-year Graduate studio assignment focusing on material iteration. We were tasked with designing an exhibition for the Please Touch Children’s Museum in Philadelphia, PA. The assignment centered around the study of phenomenology and thinking of ways to enhance the human experience in an interior space beyond visual stimulation.

The Talking Forest exhibit taps into growth and ecology on a sensory level exploring sounds, textures and a new way of play to learn how the forest grows, communicates and regenerates. Exhibition programmatic elements include sounds of the underground: a soil sound installation and a tree root synthesizer- designed to teach children about the ways trees communicate through vibrations in their roots systems.
